Reading the specs properly
The GPU floor is high for the genre
Management sims usually run on anything. Planet Zoo 2 asks for an RTX 2060 / RX 5600XT / Arc A750 at minimum, which reflects the new animal simulation — fur, flight and swimming — rather than the building tools.
16 GB in both tiers
There is no 8 GB option. If your machine has 8 GB, budget for a RAM upgrade before the game.
DirectX 12 only
This is not a DX11 title, so very old GPUs are excluded entirely.
40 GB, SSD effectively required
The recommended tier says "SSD Required". Treat 40 GB as the install size before Workshop content and saves.
Will it run? A 30-second check
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc, open Performance, click GPU.
- Compare the GPU name with the minimum list, then check Dedicated GPU memory (6 GB+).
- Click Memory and confirm 16 GB total.
- Check free space on the games drive — 40 GB minimum, 60 GB comfortable.
If you are below spec
RAM is the cheapest fix if you have 8 GB. Laptop GPUs cannot be upgraded, so a below-spec laptop means a new machine — see the laptop guide.
